Modifying my Ignis; From racing wheels, audio to interiors & more

Now, my tinkering is happening both in the power domain, and the visual side of things

BHPian Intelsingh recently shared this with other enthusiasts:

It is quite strange! 46000+ kms done, and I still feel that I am getting to know my machine. Now, my tinkering is happening both in the power domain, and the visual side of things- How I wish it was OK to fabricate more things, add some paint splashes and, not be bothered about the legalities of things.

The added list of mods and visual changes are as follows:

1. OBD Port Speedometer with Shift Light.
2. Bigger Air Filter Swap.
3. Reverse Stagger
4. Custom Front Seats.
5. IRVM Swap
6. Gloss Black Treatment here and there!
7. A few bits here and there.

Now let's dive deep into them all:

After Market Tachometer

Driving on all the winding, curvy roads that I get the opportunity to drive in; there were times where I was missing a tachometer. Only once I understand the power, I get in different rpm zones is when I can take a call on a remap. Along with it, have a better relationship with the Naturally Aspirated Engine Initial D style.
What is life if there is not the luxury and confusion of choices? Once again- The options at hand were: An Instrument Cluster Swap from the Top Variant. The only thing keeping me away was the green lights in the color scheme. An after market Tach! Did give the Ritz tachometer a try. Now, whether its the new ECUs that were not catching the signals, or my sheer luck- that it did not work!
Chinese Tachometers, should I or should I not was the pertinent question. Even tried a wifi OBD dongle to see if I can get accurate readings- there seemed to be a lag. Then, I came across this Malaysian Brand called Lufi. This seemed trustworthy enough as they have a site, and have a reasonable customer base in the Amreekas and the rest of the world. The other advantage- they have programmable lights, and a separate Shift light that you can procure and set to function the particular rpms you desire. Even you can program the lag, if any and tweak it.

Bigger Air Filter Swap

More Air= More Power.

This is what no one ever shrugged away from. I was worried of the maintenance of the K&N/BMCs of the world. In my previous car, there would be times where I had to wait for a few hours to let the oil dry in the stock replacement filter. A Cold Air Intake was tempting, getting a proper shroud made was scary. Then, the solution appeared. The air filter box of a Brezza is a plug and play swap in the Ignis. So I ordered the box, and the Brezza 1.5L filter. Sorted!

Reverse Stagger

The disadvantage of hooning on non existential roads is that a tire can meet its Arch Nemesis. Mine was a metal plate that decided to kill a tire. How could I opt for a straight swap of fresh tires? I was very clear that it will either be ATs all over or a reverse stagger. Could not get hands on any ATs in the size so got myself a pair of Earth 1s 175/65/R15 and moved them to the rear. The front has UC6 195s.
It's quite a lot of fun, with a lot of learning. If you have the patience to adjust and learn for a month or two- Goo for it. Else stay away!

Custom Front Seats

When one has access to private roads to practice cornering, why not get race seats? Even better, fabricate custom ones.

IRVM Swap

The base model IRVM does not come with the day/night switch. So take one from another Suzuki car, mine is from a WagonR, paint it gloss black, and it looks good.

Gloss Black accents

ORVMS
Front door handles
IRVM
Some places on the boot.

Other acts of Randomness

Had some left over wrap from the roof, A pillars and B pillars wanted to say hello!
Got fender arches riveted in the rear from a Boot Lip rubber.
Moved the DSP control to the right side of the steering wheel and got my tablet and phone mounted in the center console.
