Mercedes-Benz GLE 400 imported for homologation

Mercedes-Benz India has imported one unit of the GLE 400 Exclusive for homologation, indicating that the company is considering launching the SUV in India in the days to come.
The GLE 400 is powered by a 3.0-lite, V6 petrol engine that develops 328 BHP and 480 Nm of torque. The car comes with a 7-speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel drive system.

Mercedes-Benz had launched the GLE-Class in India in October 2015. At present, the vehicle comes in GLE 250d and GLE 350d variants. The former is powered by a 2,143cc, 4-cylinder diesel engine that develops 203 BHP and 500 Nm of torque. The latter comes with a 2,987cc, V6 diesel engine that produces 255 BHP and 620 Nm of torque. Both engines are mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission.

Mercedes-Benz also sells the GLE 450 AMG Coupe in India. The vehicle is powered by a 3.0-litre, V6, bi-turbo petrol engine that develops 362 BHP and 520 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission.

The GLE 400 Exclusive is expected to be positioned above the diesel variants and below the AMG.
