McLaren 720S production ends; replacement coming soon

The McLaren 720S was powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, producing 710 BHP and 770 Nm, paired with a 7-speed SSG transmission.

Although McLaren hasn't made any official announcement, reports suggest that the British supercar brand has silently ended production of its 720S model. The McLaren 720S was first introduced in 2017 and after a relatively short run of five years, production of the supercar ended in December 2022.

According to reports, the replacement of the 720S is expected to come soon. Although, there have been no details revealed of the successor, customers who were told they couldn't order a 720S anymore put "two and two together" to realise something is coming soon. McLaren America's president Nicholas Brown also confirmed customers have already started placing deposits for the 720S replacement.

He went on to state that the demand for the 720S replacement is so high that the upcoming supercar has been sold out "deep into 2024". Brown also mentioned that the 720S replacement will not be a new-generation, all-new vehicle built from the ground up but rather an evolution of the 720S.

The McLaren 720S was powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, producing 710 BHP and 770 Nm, paired with a 7-speed SSG transmission. The supercar was capable of sprinting from 0 - 100 km/h in around 3 seconds and could reach a top speed of 341 km/h. The 720S successor could get an updated version of the same engine.
