According to a media report, Maruti Suzuki will reveal its new mid-size SUV next month. It will share its underpinnings with the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, which is set to debut on July 1, 2022.
Maruti’s Creta-rivalling SUV is rumoured to be called the Vitara. It could also likely be exported to international markets.
The Vitara is said to be based on Suzuki’s Global-C platform. It is the same architecture that underpins the S-Cross and the Vitara Brezza.
Reports also suggest that the car will be powered by a K15C Dual-Jet petrol engine that is currently offered in the Ertiga and XL6. It could be offered in mild-hybrid and strong-hybrid (sourced from Toyota) guises. The latter is expected to get a CVT gearbox.
The Maruti Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder are likely to go on sale in India around the festive season.
