Maruti Suzuki Swift scores 2 stars in Global NCAP

The Maruti Suzuki Swift has scored a 2-star rating for adult and child occupant safety in Global NCAP crash tests.

According to the test report, the car offered good protection to the head and neck region for both the driver and the passenger, while chest protection was rated as marginal and adequate respectively. The driver's knees showed marginal protection, while the passenger's knees showed marginal and adequate protection as they could be hit with structures behind the dashboard. 

The child safety seat was able to prevent excessive forward movement during an impact with a 3-year old strapped in. It offered good and marginal protection to the chest. The safety seat offered poor protection to the head and chest area of an 18-month old child.

The tests have rated the bodyshell of the Swift as unstable and not capable of withstanding further loadings. The test vehicle was equipped front seatbelt pretensioners, driver and passenger side airbags and ISOFIX child safety seat anchor points. The test car lacked ABS.
