Maruti Suzuki is working on a new model based on the Baleno (codenamed: YTB). Dubbed the Baleno Cross, it is expected to be a jacked-up hatchback with a new exterior.
Spy images of the Baleno Cross are all over the internet. While the overall dimensions appear similar to the hatchback, the car has an SUV-ish stance. The front end features split headlamps and a large grille similar to the Grand Vitara.
Now, new images have revealed the car’s interiors. It seems the dashboard design of the Baleno Cross will be largely similar to the hatchback. It has a floating touchscreen infotainment system in the centre and a flat-bottom steering wheel. Some of the features that could be offered on this pseudo-SUV include a 360-degree camera, head-up display, cruise control and automatic climate control.
The Baleno Cross is expected to be based on the Heartect platform. Reports suggest that it could be powered by the BoosterJet turbo-petrol engine that was earlier offered in the Baleno RS. Lower variants could use the 1.2-litre unit from Baleno.
The Baleno Cross is likely to be unveiled at the 2023 Delhi Auto Expo.
