The soon-to-be-launched Volkswagen Golf GTI has been spotted testing on Indian roads. It will go on sale in the second quarter of this year alongside the Tiguan R Line.
The Golf GTI will be imported via the CBU route. The test vehicle seen in this image appears to be finished in a two-tone colour scheme of Oyster Silver Metallic and a Black roof. It is fitted with 18-inch “Richmond” alloy wheels.
The Golf GTI is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that produces 261 BHP and 370 Nm. The engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
VW claims the Golf GTI can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and can reach a top speed of 250 km/h. The car has driving modes: Sport, Comfort and Eco, and is equipped with a front axle differential lock and progressive steering.
In India, the VW Golf GTI is expected to cost upwards of Rs 50 lakh, making it one of the most expensive hatchbacks in the market.
