Maruti Super Carry Turbo (Y9T) spotted at dealer stockyard

Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to enter the commercial vehicle segment in India. The company has been testing the Super Carry pickup truck for a long time and test mules of the vehicle have been spotted on numerous occasions. Now, a Super Carry Turbo pickup has been spotted at a dealership stockyard, indicating that the vehicle could be launched soon.

The Super Carry Turbo (codenamed Y9T) is expected to be powered by an 800cc, twin-cylinder diesel engine, which is likely to be the same DDiS 125 engine that has been used in the Celerio diesel hatchback. In the Celerio, the engine produces 47 BHP and 125 Nm of torque and is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.

The vehicle is expected to share parts with other budget offerings from Maruti to help reduce production costs.

The Super Carry Turbo is expected to have a payload capacity of 1.0 tonne. It will rival the Tata Ace and Mahindra Maxximo Plus.

Maruti Suzuki is also likely to launch a CNG variant of the Super Carry. The CNG engine is rumoured to be the same 1.2-litre unit that is found in the Eeco.
