Maruti Celerio spotted with DDiS badge

Over the past months, Maruti has been testing a diesel variant of the Celerio hatchback. The production version of the car has been spotted. The car is wearing a DDiS badge on its front fender like other diesel Maruti products.

The Celerio diesel is expected to be powered by an 800 cc, twin-cylinder diesel engine that is capable of producing 35 PS and is expected to return about 30 kpl, making it one of the most fuel-efficient cars in the market. This engine, which will be produced at the company's Gurgaon plant, will also be used in the Y9T light pick-up truck and later in the Eeco.

The Celerio diesel is expected to be launched in the first quarter of 2015. It will be pitted against the Chevrolet Beat diesel.
