Mahindra has released a video of the limited edition Thar 700 being assembled at its factory. It shows the last of the present generation Thars rolling off the production line.
The Thar 700 marks the 70th anniversary of the company. Only 700 units are being built and these are based on the last batch of the present-day Thar.
The video shows an Aquamarine example being assembled. First, the body is mounted on the chassis and then the tail lights and badges are fixed. The Thar 700 comes with a special badge with Mr. Anand Mahindra's signature and decals on the side and bonnet. Other details include a black grille, centre of the front bumper finished in silver, leatherette upholstery with Thar logo and 5-spoke alloy wheels.
The Thar 700 is powered by a 2.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine that produces 105 BHP @ 3,800 rpm and 247 Nm of torque @ 1,800-2,000 rpm. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
