Mahindra TUV300 to get more powerful engine

Mahindra is gearing up to introduce a more powerful version of the TUV300 in India.

At present, the TUV300 comes with a 1,493cc, 3-cylinder mHawk80 diesel engine. This unit delivers 84 BHP @ 3,750 rpm and 230 Nm of torque @ 1,500-2,250 rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission. A 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT) is available as well.

The new version of the TUV300 will come with the same mHawk100 diesel engine that powers the NuvoSport, which was launched in April 2016. This engine has a 2-stage turbocharger and complies with BS-IV emission norms. It has power and eco driving modes and an engine start-stop system. In the NuvoSport, the unit puts out 100 BHP @ 3,750 rpm and 240 Nm of torque @ 1,600 - 2,800 rpm.

Like the mHawk80, the mHawk100 is likely to be available with a 5-speed manual gearbox as well as a 5-speed AMT.
