Mahindra Thar.e electric SUV concept unveiled

The INGLO platform will underpin future models like the Bolero.e, Scorpio.e and XUV.e.

Mahindra has taken the wraps off a funky electric SUV concept called the Thar.e. The car was showcased at an event in South Africa.

The Thar.e concept EV is based on the all-new INGLO platform. The electric SUV will have a wheelbase of around 2,775 and 2,975 mm and a ground clearance of 250-300 mm, while its front and rear overhangs measure 640-680 mm and 680-740 mm, respectively.

Mahindra has taken a fresh approach when it comes to the design of the Thar.e. The car has a rectangular front fascia with square LED headlamp units and a rugged front bumper. The slab side rear end of the Thar.e features square LED tail lights and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel. The flared wheel arches on the car have a steep bevel. Also, note the exposed door hinges.

Inside, the Thar.e gets a minimalistic dashboard with a central touchscreen and a digital instrument cluster. The 3-spoke steering wheel has haptic switches and the 'Thar.e' logo in the centre.

Mahindra hasn't revealed the technical details of the Thar.e. However, the company did announce plans to electrify its entire ICE range. The INGLO platform will underpin future models like the Bolero.e, Scorpio.e and XUV.e.
