Land Rover's 5th-gen Range Rover spied

Spy images of the fifth generation Range Rover have surfaced online.

The spy images suggest that the new Range Rover is likely to retain its boxy proportions. The SUV has an upright front fascia with a clam shell bonnet. It has a chunky shoulder line and flared wheel arches. At the rear, the SUV gets a raked windshield and a roof spoiler. The car has regular door handles instead of the flush fitting units like the Velar. This particular test vehicle also has quad-exhausts.

The new Range Rover is expected to be based on the MLA platform. It could be offered with a range of powertrain options including conventional combustion engines, plug-in hybrids and battery electric powertrains.

Land Rover is believed to be benchmarking the new Range Rover against a Mercedes-Maybach GLS. The new model will also compete with the BMW X7.
