Kawasaki Versys 650 launched in India at Rs. 6.6 lakh

Kawasaki has announced the launch of the Versys 650 adventure tourer motorcycle in India. The bike is priced at Rs. 6.6 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The Versys 650 has a diamond frame made from high-tensile steel with an upside down telescopic fork suspension at the front and an offset laydown single shock absorber at the rear. The bike measures 2,165 mm in length, 841 mm in width and 1,400 in height. It has a wheelbase measuring 1,415 mm and a ground clearance of 170 mm. Its kerb weight is 216 kg and has a fuel tank capacity of 21 litres.

Powering the Versys 650 is a 649cc, twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke engine that develops 68 BHP @ 8,500 rpm and 64 Nm of torque @ 7,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission.

The Versys 650 comes with dual 300 mm petal disc brakes at the front and a single 250 mm disc brake at the rear. ABS is provided as standard equipment. The bike rides on 17-inch alloy wheels shod with 120/17 and 160/60 section tyres at the front and rear respectively.

Kawasaki will assemble the Versys 650 at the Bajaj Auto plant in Akurdi (near Pune), from CKD kits imported from Thailand. The bike will be sold through the existing Probiking Sales network operated by Bajaj Auto.
