Jeep Meridian (Commander) leaked ahead of official debut

The Meridian is a 7-seat version of the Compass that will compete with the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour.

The upcoming Jeep Commander has leaked ahead of its official unveiling scheduled for August 26, 2021.

The SUV will be called 'Meridian' in the Indian market. The Meridian shares its underpinnings with the Compass. It is a 3-row SUV that is likely to be offered in 6-seat and 7-seat configurations.

The Meridian gets a slimmer grille flanked by sleek LED headlights with LED daytime running lights positioned on the front bumper. A pair of slim tail lamp clusters adorn the rear end.

The car seen here is the Brazilian-spec Overland trim, which is likely to be the top variant. It is equipped with dual-tone alloy wheels, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment head unit.

Reports suggest that the Meridian will be offered with a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine with a 48 V mild-hybrid system. The engine is likely to be paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission.

In India, the Jeep Meridian will compete with the likes of the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace, Skoda Kodiaq, MG Gloster, Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour.
