Jaguar XE diesel: Official bookings commence

Jaguar has officially started accepting bookings for the upcoming XE diesel sedan in India. Interested customers can reach out to any of the 24 authorised Jaguar dealerships across the country to register a booking for the XE diesel. The company hasn't revealed a specific launch date for this new powertrain option yet.

The Jaguar XE was launched in India during last year's Auto Expo, in February 2016. However, it is currently available only with a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo petrol engine, which is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. This engine is available in two states of tune - 197 BHP & 320 Nm and 237 BHP & 340 Nm.

Now, Jaguar is introducing a diesel engine in the XE sedan's line-up. These diesel variants will likely be powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder Ingenium diesel engine that will develop around 177 BHP. The 8-speed automatic gearbox is expected to be on offer with the diesel models as well.

The XE is currently Jaguar's most affordable sedan. It competes against the likes of the Audi A4, BMW 3-Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
