Isuzu MU-X spotted again, interiors revealed

Isuzu has been testing the MU-X SUV in India for a fairly long time. Multiple spy shots of the SUV have already surfaced on the Internet. However, the recent set of spy shots offer a look at the interiors of the India-spec model.

The MU-X is basically a seven-seater SUV sibling of the D-Max V-Cross pickup. As a result, it borrows the front fascia from the D-Max, while the side profile looks inspired from the Chevrolet Trailblazer. The interiors too are similar to that of the Trailblazer. However, a few changes have been made on the Isuzu SUV, which include an all-black dashboard, leather upholstery for the seats and roof-mounted AC vents for the rear passengers. The spotted model also shows the presence of an automatic gearbox with the India-spec MU-X.

Media reports suggest that Isuzu might locally assemble the MU-X in India in order to keep its prices competitive. Since the D-Max V-Cross is already assembled at the company's plant in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, it won't be a major concern for the automaker to start local assembly of the MU-X as well.

In international markets, the MU-X is powered by a 3.0-litre diesel engine that churns out 174 BHP and 380 Nm of torque. However, Isuzu is likely to equip the Indian version with the same engine that powers the MU-7. This is also a 3.0-litre unit, but it develops slightly lower power and torque figures of 161 BHP and 360 Nm, respectively. Isuzu is expected to launch the MU-X in India as a competitor to the Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport.
