Interiors of the Mahindra S101 spotted

Mahindra's upcoming compact SUV - S101, has been spotted on several occasions but it's the first time where its interiors are visible.

The interiors of the S101 carry a new grey, black and beige theme. The interiors appear more modern in comparison to the Quanto and Xylo. Even the 3-spoke steering wheel is new with mounted controls for audio and telephony. The wiper and headlight stalks appear to be lifted from the Scorpio and the instrument cluster features an MID too. The controls for the automatic climate control as well as the audio system and the door armrest with power windows are partially visible in the spy pictures.

A crucial revelation is the dash-mounted gear lever, similar to what we have seen in hatchbacks like the Ritz and i10. This helps to free up space in the central area. Mahindra have cleverly provided an unconventional bench seat in the front, like the Datsun Go. We only need to wait and see whether they market this car as a 6-seater (3+3) or a 5-seater.

Do notice the detailing on the ORVMs and the pull-type door handles too.

The S101 will be available with a petrol and diesel engine option and will rival Ford's EcoSport, Fiat Avventura and the Cross versions of the Etios and Polo. It will be manufactured at Mahindra's new plant located at Cheyyar in Tamil Nadu.
