India-spec Kawasaki KLX230 revealed; bookings open

The Kawasaki KLX 230 S is expected to rival the Hero XPulse 200 4V.

Kawasaki has revealed the KLX230 dual-sport bike for the Indian market. Customers can book it by paying a token amount of Rs 5,000. Prices will be announced in December and deliveries will begin from January 2025.

The Kawasaki KLX230 is based on a perimeter frame with a 37 mm telescopic fork with 240 mm of travel at the front and a mono-shock at the rear offering 250 mm of travel. The bike has minimal bodywork with a V-shaped LED headlamp and wide handlebars with knuckle guards. The single-piece seat is set at a height of 880 mm. However, there is a low seat option (866 mm).

Powering the KLX230 is a 233cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 18 BHP @ 8,000 rpm and 18.3 Nm @ 6,400 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Brakes come in the form of 265 mm and 220 mm discs at the front and rear, respectively.

In terms of features, the KLX230 comes with an LCD instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity, a USB Type-C charger, a handlebar pad, luggage rack and switchable dual-channel ABS. The bike is available in two colours: Lime Green and Battle Grey.
