Impressed by the MG Windsor's range during a recent trip to Lonavala

The response of EV's is just fantastic. EV's and automatic are a match made in heaven. The simplicity of driving is unmatched

BHPian Ashwathama recently shared this with other enthusiasts:

I recently did a Pune - Lonavala round trip of about 115 kms. I was driving on ECO+ heavy regen while going and ECO heavy regen while returning. I started at 67% and completed the full journey at 31%. That's 36% used for 115kms so by calculation 115/36 =3.194kms per percent. This would have resulted in 290-319kms of total range approximately.

Around 80-90kms of this was spent on the expressway. While going as I was on ECO+ mode, the max speed and average speed was 83 kmph. While returning, I was at 100kmph on the expressway. Rest was in the city, bumper to bumper traffic while going and moderate while returning. I did try turning on cruise control while driving on the expressway, but I couldn't figure it out, so I gave up and just squeezed the accelerator.

AC was fluctuating between speed 3-5 at 22 degrees while going and while returning as it was night, AC was at speed 1, 22 degrees. The moonroof was closed both times and I don't have any sun blinds or film installed. Two phones were charging both times. One on the wireless charger and one on the 60kw charger which I installed in the socket. I wasn't listening to any music but I have a front and rear dash cam working at all times. I also don't have a spare tire at the back.

Daytime the front headlamps were off, and at night, the LED headlamps were set to AUTO and level 1 for distance viewing with interior lights set to constant on. Tyre Pressure was 34.5 psi across all while journey started but while driving on the expressway when I checked it was showing 37-38Psi across all maybe because of heat.

No doubt, I was impressed by the range. I enjoyed the return more as ECO gave me more freedom. I got better range on ECO while returning by about 2% more battery but this may just be due to the AC being at fan speed 1 at night.

Also, this trip was decided all of a sudden so the 7.4KW charger came in handy. I was at 30% charge when we planned the trip and had like two hours before leaving. So I charged the vehicle with the 7.4KW charger for around two hours and topped up the vehicle to 67%. I am just happy with the amount of convenience I had with the fast charger. Initially, Iw as going for the mid model but went for top end because of the fast charger. I thought that getting it installed was tiring, increasing load, wiring etc. but glad I got it installed. Really helpful in such situations.

Overall, I just loved the whole experience. This is a breeze to drive. Very smooth and quiet car. The response of EV's is just fantastic. EV's and automatic are a match made in heaven. The simplicity of driving is unmatched. The cabin experience was also truly comfortable. Such amazing seats. My dad sat with me in the front and mum at the back and they were enjoying the journey. The car at high speeds doesn't run out of control or anything, very easy to handle. Even while driving at 90-100kmph on the expressway it felt like driving at 50kmph something. The control is just fantastic. Of course it's a EV so it is very economical. I mean the toll charges were more than the money spent on the entire drive, very interesting times.

Ohh, and I have to add, I was using google maps via carplay on that big screen during the entire journey as I didn't know the route to the destination and believe me, its the boon of the 21st century. Maps on that big screen is pure hassle free driving.
