Hyundai starts testing Tucson in India

Hyundai had showcased the third-generation Tucson at the 2016 Auto Expo, which was held earlier this year. Now, a test mule of the SUV has been spotted on the streets of Chennai.

The Tucson uses Hyundai's Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language. It has the familiar Hyundai family grille, projector headlamps with LED eyebrows, LED daytime running lights, LED tail lamps, roof rails and a tail gate with an integrated spoiler. The car measures 4,475 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width and 1,655 m in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,670 mm.

In international markets the Tucson is available in a range of 2-litre petrol and diesel engines, 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions and two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. A 1.6-litre, turbocharged petrol engine mated to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission with four-wheel drive is also available.

Hyundai will launch the Tucson in India later this year. It will be positioned between the Creta and the Santa Fe in the company's SUV line-up.
