Honda BR-V scores 5 stars in ASEAN NCAP crash tests

The Honda BR-V has been crash tested by the New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP). The vehicle managed to obtain a 5-star rating.

In the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), the BR-V scored 14.79 points. Based on ASEAN NCAP prerequisites, only variants that are equipped with Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Seatbelt Reminder System (SBR) for both frontal occupants are eligible for a 5-star rating. Variants that are not fitted with these technologies can receive a maximum of a 4-star rating. While anti-lock braking system (ABS) and airbags are standard on all variants, ESC and SBR for both frontal occupants are available only on higher variants of the BR-V.

Coming to Child Occupant Protection (COP), the car met 72% compliance of the test and achieved a 4-star rating. ISOFIX and top tether are standard across variants of the BR-V.

The BRV-was developed for the ASEAN region. The car was unveiled at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show in August 2015. Honda also showcased it at the 2016 Auto Expo at Noida in February 2016 and it is expected to be launched later this year.
