Hero Motors to manufacture Ducati transmission components

Hero Motors has received a contract to manufacture transmission components for Ducati motorcycles. These components will be manufactured by the transmission division of Hero Motors, at the company's India plant. This is being considered as a step taken by Ducati to increase localization levels of its bikes in the country, to offer them at a more competitive price tag.

This isn't the first time that Hero has bagged a contract for manufacturing transmission systems or components for major global two-wheeler manufacturers. The company already produces gears for Harley-Davidson and BMW Motorrad.

Hero is also planning to expand its presence in the European markets. It is planning to invest around Rs. 150 crores in its international operations, and is looking out to forge a Joint Venture with a European firm. The company already has an office in Vienna-Austria.
