Hero to launch Harley-Davidson X440-based bike in 2024

Hero's X440-based motorcycle could get more aggressive styling and a different exhaust note.

Harley-Davidson has recently launched the X440 in India. It is the brand's most affordable model, developed in collaboration with Hero MotoCorp, which is also said to be working on a new bike based on the same platform.

According to media reports, Hero's product will be loosely based on the X440's platform. While it will use the same chassis, the engine could be offered in a different state of tune. It is also said that Hero will tweak the styling and exhaust note to appeal to younger buyers.

The X440 is powered by a 440cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine that produces 27 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 38 Nm @ 4,000 rpm. The bike is equipped with an upside-down KYB front fork and dual shock absorbers at the rear, while braking is handled by a 320 mm rotor up front and a 240 mm disc at the rear.

Hero's X440-based bike could also get similar features as the Harley. These include a 3.5-inch digital instrument console, Bluetooth connectivity with turn-by-turn navigation, music and phone control with missed call and message alerts.

Reports suggest that the Harley-Davidson X440-based motorcycle is likely to be launched in India by March 2024.
