Gurgaon: Companies told GPS must in vehicles for female staff

The Gurgaon district administration has instructed all companies operating in the city to equip GPS devices in vehicles that are used to ferry female employees to and from work. Gurgaon's Deputy Commissioner, Hardeep Singh, also added that companies will have to install GPS (Global Positioning System) devices in all female ferrying cabs within one month.

The said step has been taken to aid safety of working women that travel daily via company cabs and shuttle services. Various firms in the city offer pick-up and drop services to female employees. However, there are no means of tracking these vehicles in case of an unfortunate incident. With the installation of the GPS devices, it will become easier for the respective companies as well as the district administration to keep a check on each vehicle.

The Deputy Commissioner has also claimed that the administration will be taking legal action against firms which don't comply with the released orders.
