Getting my Volvo V40 tuned: Stage 1 ECU remap by Code6

It has drastically improved the in-gear acceleration and the engine now runs a bit quieter too.

BHPian vjbox recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

Finally managed to remap the Volvo at 64K on the ODO. Since I visit Coimbatore frequently, I decided to do the remap at Code6 which was referred by a good friend. The map itself was done and shared from their Bangalore workshop and it took a good 3-4 hours. For Volvos, the ECUs need to be removed and oddly it's located in the Bumper.

Once removed, they then bench flash the ECU and update the map. I went for a simpler stage 1 tune to improve the overall drivability. It has drastically improved the in-gear acceleration and the engine now runs a bit quieter too. Power is delivered on demand with little turbo lag and overtakes are a lot more breezier now. It's made it a lot more fun to drive and I already ended up getting a challan.

I am yet to put the car on a Dyno but I was told we are looking at more or less 20% gains overall. ( I am told they keep it conservative for the Volvos) This still translates to about 180 BHP and 400 NM of Torque which is Ample for the V40 ( Sort of brings it to the D4 engine spec)

Some pictures from the session.

Next upgrade or rather downgrade is going to be the Wheels with 225/50/17 Tyres to get rid of the firm ride and side wall tears!

ECU being removed. Note the Odd location.

Not too bad a sticker!

Chillin in Chennai ( For real! )
