Four international patents for Mahindra Two Wheelers Ltd.

Mahindra Two Wheelers Ltd., has received international patents for four technologies, which have been indigenously developed. They include a fuel gauge system, a distance to empty system, automatic ignition cut-off and engine immobilizer system.

The fuel gauge system and distance to empty system will enable riders to judge the distance their bikes can cover with the fuel remaining in the tanks.

The automatic ignition cut-off works as a fuel saving solution, by switching the bike’s engine off when not in use. The engine can be restarted by blipping the throttle.

The engine immobilizer system is designed to reduce the chance of a bike being stolen.

These technologies will be used in current and future models of Mahindra’s two-wheelers. The Centuro, which was launched in July, already features some of these technologies.

Mahindra’s first foray into motorcycles was not successful. However, its second innings is looking a lot better.
