Ford Classic Limited Edition: What's it all about

Yesterday, Ford India put out an advertisement in certain prominent Indian newspapers, announcing a Limited Edition version of the Classic sedan. The Classic sedan (essentially a re-badged and re-positioned, previous generation Fiesta sedan) continues to outperform its replacement model, the new Fiesta, in terms of monthly sales. In re-positioned form, the car now does duty as Ford India's entry level sedan in the C-Segment space.

To make the car more appealing, Ford has added an accessory pack to the Classic sedan. The Classic equipped with the accessory pack, is what's being bandied about as the "Limited Edition" model. Team-BHP contacted Ford India's dealers to confirm the existence of the Limited Edition model, only to be told that it was an accessory pack that could be added to all three variants of the Classic.

We went on to confirm the same with the Ford customer support team, who while confirming the existence of the accessory pack chose to put the ball back in the dealer's court, when it came to pricing, details and availability of the accessory pack. Ford dealers in Bangalore claim that the accessory pack, minus the alloy wheels costs about 30,000 rupees.

For that amount, a Classic buyer can add seat covers, a chromed front grille, a rear spoiler, a chrome handle for the boot lid, fog lamps, and reverse parking sensors. Alloy wheels and the seat height adjust options are already available as standard on the Titanium variant of the Classic with the seat height adjust being available as standard even on the CLXi trim.

So, the actual accessory pack consists of the six items specified above. This accessory pack can also be added to the base LXi trims of the Classic sedan. Notably, existing dealer discounts available on the Ford Classic mean that the accessory pack is available at no extra cost to the car buyer.

The Ford Classic sedan is available with two engine options: a 1.6 liter naturally aspirated petrol engine (100 Bhp-146 Nm) and a 1.4 Liter turbo diesel engine (68 Bhp-160 Nm). The car is known for its reassuring build, excellent driving dynamics and responsive engines. Dated looks (the car is the previous generation Fiesta) and a rear seat on which three adults are a squeeze, are the notable downsides of the car. In  nutshell, the Ford Classic is a viable sedan option for driving enthusiasts on a budget. Prices start at 5.99 lakh rupees for the petrol base variant and 7.26 lakh rupees for the diesel base variant.
