Flipkart starts retailing car tyres online

E-commerce portals continue to increase their connect with the automotive industry. Flipkart has now expanded its retail reach, and is offering four wheeler tyres online. Interested buyers can use options such as the car brand, car model, tyre brand and tyre dimensions in order to shortlist their options. General specifications of the tyres are also listed on the site.

Apollo, Bridgestone, Ceat, JK Tyre, Goodyear, MRF and Michelin are among the brand options available on the website. As an introductory offer, Flipkart will provide a free tyre installation service through the fitment centres it has tied up with. The fitment will be done within 2 business days from delivery of the tyre, and includes tyre fitment and wheel balancing.

While the option of buying tyres online can simplify purchases for motorists, the site comes with a fair share of flaws / shortcomings. Apart from misspelling brands like Volkswagen, and listing typos such as “Hyunda”, the only vehicle model year listed is 2011! This seems like a half-hearted / hurried effort, and we hope it isn’t reflected at the service end.
