First batch of the Skoda Octavia RS sold out in India

The Skoda Octavia RS went on sale in India on August 30, 2017. In just a month following its launch, the first batch of cars has already been sold out.

According to Jan Repa, Head of Strategic Product Planning, Skoda Auto India, the first batch of 250 units were sold out within one month of its launch. Now, the next batch of cars is expected to arrive in 2018.

The Octavia RS is imported into India as a completely knocked-down unit (CKD). It is priced at Rs. 24.62 lakh (ex-showroom, India). It comes with a slightly sporty exterior with large intakes and full-LED headlights in the front. The rear features a spoiler, revised bumper and twin stainless-steel exhaust tips.

The cabin of the Octavia RS comes wrapped in black upholstery with red stitching. It gets Alcantara sports seats, a 3-spoke steering wheel with paddle shifts and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system as well as dual-zone climate control among other features.

It is powered by a 2.0-litre, turbocharged petrol engine which produces 227 BHP and 350 Nm of peak torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via a 6-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The Octavia RS is claimed to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 6.8 sec and has a top speed of 250 km/h.
