Delhi: Colleges to issue learner's license

The transport department of Delhi has issued a notification, which allows educational institutions to conduct tests and issue learner's licenses to their students. The move is expected to benefit around 2 lakh students and reduce the load on private driving schools and regional transport offices (RTO).

It has been reported that two colleges in Delhi have already started issuing learner's licenses, while 10 more colleges will start issuing licenses in the coming months. Students can apply for a driving license at G.B. Pant Institute of Technology, ITI Pusa, Narendra Dev College and Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies.

In addition to learner's license, the government is also planning to allow educational institutions to issue vehicle registration certificates (RC). Currently these can only be obtained via a dealership or RTOs.
