Help me legally scrap bike registered in TN07 RTO - I'm not in India

As I am present in the country only for a couple of weeks in a year, I need some agent who can help with this process so I can finally put this chapter to rest.

BHPian praful recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

Hello Everyone,

I am looking for any recommendations for an agent who can help sorting out the papers for my motorcycle. For reference, its a 2007 registered vehicle that has been lying unused since 2019 (as I don't live in the country anymore).

I need to legally scrap the vehicle as selling, etc. is not feasible as it would mean I need to bike in running condition and that is going to be a long and tedious procedure because it went out of production in 2009, even though variants of it are sold today, some critical components such as fuel injection, pump, etc are not sold for years now.

I am unable to move forward with the scrapping procedure on Parivahan because of the following issues -

  1. RC still shows hypothecation (I was too lazy to have this removed in 2009)
  2. To remove hypothetication with the NOC from the bank, Parivahan is asking me to renew RC + FC for the vehicle.
  3. I cannot renew online the RC + FC, and that would not be feasible as the vehichle has not been in running condition for the last 5 odd years.

Since it is not possible to physically present the vehicle at the RTO (as it is in non-running condition and also in Bangalore), and also because I am present in the country only for a couple of weeks in a year, I need some agent who can help with this process so I can finally put this chapter to rest.

Here's what BHPian condor had to say in this matter:

Simplest way may be to erase the chassis and engine number print from the bike and give it to a mechanic for spares. Keep pics of the numbers being erased (the mechanic will file it out)

Meanwhile, this is BHPian NomadSK's suggestion:

I'm not sure, but you can try posting it on the "Give Away" thread and see if someone comes up. And let the person handle all the process since he will get the asset which you already want to dispose off, unless you are looking for some monetary benefits. Anyway agent would arm twist you and will syphon some $$. Surely, If I would have been in your place, I would have gone thorugh this route. IMO It's not worth the headache and time.

The Giveaway Thread: Post up anything you want to give away FREE to a fellow BHPian.

Is there a 15 year rule in TN for renewal?

Here's what BHPian Ragavsr had to say in this matter:

If you have the NOC from bank, contact authorized scrappers mahindra cero. They will take in hypothecation vehicles as long as you have NOC from the bank.

The whole thing is streamlined and there won't be any issues and also you will get 3-4 k as salvage amount.
