Dechroming a car: Painting or wrapping is the correct way?

Paint is permanent but you can always buy another set of parts such as emblems and door handles if you change your mind.

BHPian nidhikapoor recently shared this with other enthusiasts:

Hi,

If you guys want to dechrome a car, which would you choose and why?

Also, suggestions for a good guy in BLR to do it? Not a DIY type of person.

Here's what BHPian itwasntme had to say on the matter:

You can check with Carmed or Krithi Car Care, both in the Hennur/Horamavu area.

Here's what BHPian AtheK had to say on the matter:

Go with wrap, paint will come off in parts from stone chips and wrap gives you an option to revert back as well. Plasti dip has generally not been much of a success in India.

Here's what BHPian self_driven had to say on the matter:

Wrap the flat areas and paint the curved ones.

Paint is permanent but you can always buy another set of parts such as emblems and door handles if you change your mind.

Here's what BHPian naveen.raju had to say on the matter:

We got ours done at carmed. Painted all black and used black sun films on the roof rails.

Not sure what paint but my friend is still having the same on his Tucson for more than 6 years now.
