Thanks to BHPian Senna4Ever for sharing this information with other enthusiasts!

Yesterday we published a scoop of the Maruti Celerio-based pseudo SUV. We can now report that the new model will be christened Celerio X.

According to a leaked ARAI document, the Celerio X will be available in four variants - Vxi, Vxi (O), Zxi and Zxi (O). Maruti will also offer automated manual transmission (AMT) on these trim levels.

The spy image shows that the Celerio X will receive a body kit featuring black plastic cladding around the wheel arches and along the sides. The matte black rear bumper gets a silver scuff plate and the car rides on black alloy wheels. There has been no word yet about the variant wise features, however the equipment list could be similar to the standard Celerio.

The Maruti Celerio X is likely to use the same 998cc, 3-cylinder petrol engine as the standard model which produces 67 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 90 Nm of torque @ 3,500 rpm. It will be paired with a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox.

There has been no official word yet from Maruti concerning the Celerio X.
