Brazil: Details of updated Toyota Etios leaked

Toyota is gearing up to give the Etios some updates for the Brazilian market. Images of what appears to be the product brochure of the car, have surfaced online.

The images suggest that apart from a new set of alloy wheels, there will be no change to the car's exterior.

On the inside, the Etios gets a new digital instrument cluster. Like the current model, it continues to be located on top of the centre fascia. The car receives features such as cruise control and ISOFIX child seat mounts. Additionally, the rear seat gets a headrest and a three-point seatbelt for the middle passenger.

The Etios uses the same 1.3-litre Dual VVT-i and 1.5-litre Dual VVT-i engines as the current model, but they have been reworked for improved efficiency and power output. While the 1.3-litre unit gains 8 BHP to develop 97 BHP, the 1.5-litre power plant now produces 106 BHP - a gain of 10 BHP. The Etios also gets new 6-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmissions.

It is unclear if any of these changes will make it to the India-spec Etios.
