BMW X7 to be assembled locally

According to a media report, BMW will assemble the X7 locally at its Chennai plant. The carmaker is gearing up to launch the new luxury SUV in India on January 31, 2019.

The new X7 is based on the CLAR platform that is shared with other models like the 7-Series. It measures 5,151 mm in length, 2,000 mm in width and 1,805 mm in height, while its wheelbase is 3,105 mm.

BMW is expected to launch the M50d variant in India. It has a large twin-kidney grille in the front with twin-pod LED headlamps. At the rear, it has L-shaped LED tail lights and twin chrome exhaust tips.

The X7 M50d is powered by a 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder diesel engine that produces 394 BHP @ 4,400 rpm and peak torque of 760 Nm @ 2,000-3,000 rpm. Power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission.
