BMW R 18 cruiser launched at Rs. 18.90 lakh

The BMW R18 is inspired by the classic R5 cruiser from the 1930s.

BMW has launched the R 18 cruiser in India. The bike is imported as a completely built unit (CBU) and is available in two variants - standard and First Edition priced at Rs. 18.90 lakh and Rs. 21.90 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively.

The BMW R 18 is inspired by the classic R5. It features a teardrop shaped fuel tank, circular headlamp, wide handlebars, spoked wheels and chrome exhausts. The First Edition gets a seat badge with a 'First Edition' clasp, and Blackstorm metallic paint with lightwhite pinstripes.

The R 18 cruiser is powered by a 1,802cc, 2-cylinder boxer engine that produces 90 BHP @ 4,750 rpm and 158 Nm @ 3,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox, which drives the rear wheel via a shaft drive. A reverse gear is available as an optional extra. The bike features multiple ride modes which include Rock, Roll and Rain.

The R 18 features telescopic fork suspension at the front and a monoshock at the rear. It comes equipped with 300 mm twin discs at the front and a single 300 mm disc brake at the rear.

Some of the standard features offered on the R 18 cruiser include traction control, Automatic Stability Control, Dynamic Engine Brake Control, Hill Start Control, Keyless Ride system and BMW Motorrad Integral ABS.
