BMW G310 GS unveiled at EICMA 2016

BMW Motorrad has unveiled the G310 GS at the 2016 EICMA show in Milan. It is essentially the adventure-motorcycle version of BMW's entry-level naked bike - the G310 R.

The G310 GS gets a styling that is clearly inspired by bigger GS series bikes in BMW Motorrad's portfolio. It gets a sharp front beak, a beefier tank and a larger headlamp cowl. It is built on a tubular steel frame. Being a sibling of the G310 R, it borrows certain components including the switchgear and instrument cluster.

Powering the G310 GS will be the same 313 cc engine from the G310 R. It is also mated to a 6-speed transmission, though it will slightly be tuned to be in accordance with adventure touring requirements. The bike will tip the weighing scale at 169.5 kg.

To suit its adventure touring image, BMW has equipped with 49 mm up-side down forks at the front that provide 49 mm of additional travel as compared to the naked sibling. The rear gets a mono-shock with preload adjustment. The automaker has confirmed that the bike will come with ABS as standard.

The G310 GS will be the third bike coming out from BMW-TVS alliance, after the G310 R and the Akula 310. It might come to India after the launch of the G310R.
