BMW 520d M Sport launched in India at Rs. 54 lakh

BMW India has launched the 520d M Sport in India with prices starting from Rs. 54 lakh (ex-showroom). This new variant is basically a more affordable trim of the 5 Series M Sport model, which was till now available only in the 530d variant.

The 520d M Sport comes with visual enhancements over the regular 5 series. Changes on the outside include the company's M aerodynamics package that adds features like a new set of dual-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels, sports bumpers, side skirts, dark chrome exhaust pipe finishers, and a dark shadow metallic coloured diffuser. The 'M' badge has been placed on the front wings and the door sills. The BMW 520d M Sport also comes with LED adaptive headlights.

On the inside, the M Sport gets electrically adjustable sports seats at the front that are wrapped in leather. The M multifunction steering wheel and an aluminium hexagon interior trim strip complete the look of the interiors. The new BMW M Sport model comes with the BMW iDrive system that consists of a 10-inch colour display, and BMW Navigation system Professional with 3D maps. Other equipment on offer include Auto Start-Stop, ECO PRO modes (ECO PRO, Sport, Comfort), brake energy regeneration, Park Distance Control and a rear view camera.

Safety feature list of the BMW 520d M Sport comprises of six airbags, ABS, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Cornering Braking Control (CBC), Hill Descent Control (HDC), side impact protection, and electronic immobilizer.

The 520d M Sport comes with only a diesel engine option. The 1,995 cc, four-cylinder, common rail diesel engine churns out 188 BHP and 400 Nm of torque. The motor is paired to an 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission that comes with steering-mounted paddle shifters. The powertrain setup can take the car from 0-100 km/h in a company claimed 7.7 second time, while the top speed is 233 km/h.

The BMW 520d M Sport will be offered in three colour options: Alpine White (non-metallic), Mediterranean Blue (Metallic) and Carbon Black (Metallic). It will be built at the company’s plant in Chennai, and is now available at all BMW dealerships in India.
