According to a media report, BMW plans to launch the new 5 Series in India on July 24. For the first time, BMW will offer the long wheelbase version in India to take on the Mercedes E-Class LWB.
The G60 BMW 5 Series made its global debut last year. The new-gen 5 Series LWB measures 5,175 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width and 1,520 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 3,105 mm.
In terms of design, the 5 Series LWB looks similar to the standard version. It has a sharp-looking front fascia with a prominent kidney grille flanked by twin-pod LED headlamps. The rear features slim wraparound LED taillights.
Inside, the new 5 Series gets a dual-screen setup with a 3-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel. The LWB version also gets a 31.1-inch, 8K display that folds down from the headliner.
In India, the new 5 Series is likely to be offered with 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and diesel engine options. Both engines will be paired with a mild-hybrid system and an 8-speed automatic transmission.
