BMW 1 Series sedan revealed, will be sold only in China

BMW has unveiled its smallest sports sedan offering, the 1 Series Sedan. This new car is the production version of the BMW Concept Compact Sedan, which was unveiled at the 2015 Guangzhou Motor Show.

In terms of design, various elements from the concept car have been forwarded into the production model. The front fascia gets the characteristic double kidney grille, which is flanked by dual LED headlamps on both sides. It also retains the Hofmeister kink at the rear window which is found in various BMW cars. The rear end and the interiors of the 1 Series sedan haven't been revealed yet, though BMW has confirmed that the 1 Series Sedan will get the latest ConnectedDrive technologies.

Specifications of the 1 Series Sedan have also been kept under wraps for now, but sources suggest that it will get 3 or 4-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, with displacement ranging from 1.5-litre to 2.0-litre. Transmission duties will likely be performed by either a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed Steptronic automatic gearbox.

The BMW 1-Series Sedan will be produced at the company's plant in Shenyang, and will be sold only in China through BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd. (BBA), which is the Joint Venture of BMW Group and the China-based Brilliance Automotive Holdings Ltd.
