Apollo Tyres has formally inaugurated its Global R&D Centre, Asia, just outside the city of Chennai. This new facility will be Apollo's second Global R&D Centre. The first Apollo Global R&D Centre was set up in Netherlands, Europe in 2013.

Apollo has marked dedicated territories for its two Global R&D Centres, according to which, each centre has been assigned a region which they need to take care of. In line with this arrangement, the Global R&D Centre, Europe, that has a team size of 150+ people, services product development needs of the European and American region. On the other hand, the Global R&D Centre, Asia that has an employee strength of around 140 people, services the needs for the entire Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa region.

In addition to the Global R&D Centre in Chennai, Apollo Tyres also has set-up two satellite R&D Centres in Bengaluru and Germany. These satellite centres will be working in collaboration with the Global centres.
