4th-gen Skoda Superb technical details revealed

The Superb will get the same engines as the second-generation Kodiaq. It will also get a plug-in hybrid option.

Skoda has revealed some technical details of the India-bound fourth-generation Superb. The sedan will make its global debut later this year.

The new Superb measures 4,912 mm in length, 1,894 mm in width and 1,481 mm in height, making it longer, narrower and slightly taller than the outgoing model. The wheelbase though, remains unchanged at 2,841 mm, while boot space has grown by 20 litres to 645 litres.

Under the bonnet, the Superb will get the same engines as the second-generation Kodiaq. These include two petrol, two diesel and a plug-in hybrid.

The lower variants will get the 1.5-litre TSI mild-hybrid engine, while higher variants will be powered by a 2.0-litre TSI unit that will come in two states of tune: 201 BHP and 261 BHP, with the latter getting a 4-wheel-drive option.

The 2.0-litre diesel engine will also come in two states of tune: 148 BHP and 190 BHP. A 7-speed dual-clutch automatic will be standard across all engines with 4-wheel-drive available on the higher-spec 2.0L units.

The plug-in hybrid Superb iV will be powered by a 1.5-litre TSI engine paired with a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic and a 25.7 kWh battery. It is said to have a combined output of 201 BHP and can cover 100 km in electric mode.
