3rd-gen Hyundai i20 unveiled

Hyundai has unveiled the third generation i20.

The new i20 measures 4,040 mm in length, 1,750 mm in width, 1,450 mm in height and the wheelbase is 2,580 mm. The car has a 351 litre boot.

The new i20 gets a new hexagonal grille flanked by wraparound headlamps that have V-shaped LED daytime running lights. The front bumper has a slim air dam and triangular fog lamp pods.

At the rear, the new model gets wraparound tail lamps with a light bar that stretches across the width of the car, while the dual-tone bumper has additional reflectors. The new i20 has a black roof with blacked-out B-pillars and chrome trim along the window line. It rides on dual-tone alloy wheels.

In international markets, the new i20 will be offered with three interior trim options - Black Mono, Black & Gray and Black Mono & Yellow Green. The car comes with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment that has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The touchscreen has split-screen functionality for multitasking. Other features include wireless charging, Bose audio system with 8 speakers and a sub-woofer and Bluelink connected car services.

Some of the safety features offered on car include Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control (NSCC), Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA), Lane Following Assist (LFA), Blind-spot Collision-avoidance Assist Warning (BCA), Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Leading Vehicle Departure Alert (LDVA), Rear Cross-traffic Collision Assist (RCCA), Parking Collision-avoidance Assist - Reverse (PCA-R), Parking Assist (PA), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Driver Attention Warning (DAW) and High Beam Assist (HBA).

The new i20 will be available with four petrol engine options. These include a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder engine producing 83 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 118 Nm @ 4,000 rpm, a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged engine with 99 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 172 Nm @ 1,500 rpm and a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder with a 48V mild hybrid system that comes in two states of tune - 99 BHP / 172 Nm and 118 BHP / 200 Nm. Transmission options include 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.
