Since February 22, 2016, nearly 300 workers at Tata Motors plant at Sanand (Gujarat) plant have gone on an illegal sit-in strike, demanding reinstatement of 20 workers. These workers had been suspended for serious misconduct.

The upcoming Tata Tiago (earlier known as Zica) will be produced at the Sanand plant alongside the Nano. Its launch is scheduled in a few weeks and currently, talks between the management and workmen to resume operations are in progress.

Earlier this month, the Tata Marcopolo Motors plant at Dharwad (Karnataka) witnessed an illegal strike by workers demanding higher wages forcing the company to declare a lockout on February 6.
