Yamaha has revealed the 2025 edition of its flagship superbike, the YZF-R1 and R1M. Both versions get multiple cosmetic and mechanical updates.
The overall styling of the 2025 Yamaha R1 hasn’t changed much, except for aero upgrades. The bike gets new carbon fibre winglets inspired by Yamaha’s MotoGP bike.
Yamaha has also made some changes to the suspension. The revised fully adjustable KYB front fork on the R1 improves stability, while the R1M gets an Ohlins electronic NPX fork at the front and a fully adjustable Ohlins mono shock at the rear.
Braking is said to have been improved, courtesy of Brembo Stylema calipers and a Brembo master cylinder. According to Yamaha, the upgraded setup provides a sharper bite and improved brake feel.
The 2025 Yamaha YZF-R1 and R1M are powered by the same 998cc inline 4-cylinder engine. It produces 200 BHP and 113 Nm and is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
The 2025 edition of the R1 does not comply with Euro 5 emission regulations and hence is sold as a track-only model in Europe.
