2021 Yamaha MT-09 unveiled

The new MT-09 comes with a 890cc, 3-cylinder engine instead of an 847cc unit.

Yamaha has unveiled the 2021 MT-09 naked street bike. Besides the revised styling, the bike is now powered by a new engine.

The MT-09 is based on a diecast aluminium frame with KYB adjustable upside down forks at the front and a monoshock suspension at the rear. The kerb weight of the bike is 189 kg.

The MT-09 gets a new LED headlamp unit and an updated 3.5-inch TFT instrument cluster. The bike is equipped with a 6-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU) that works in tandem with safety systems like the lean sensitive traction control system, slide control, cornering ABS and rear-wheel lift mitigation.

The MT-09 is powered by a 890cc, 3-cylinder engine as opposed to an 847cc unit. The new engine has a slightly longer stroke of 62.1 mm. It produces 115 BHP @ 10,000 rpm and 93 Nm @ 7,000 rpm.

The brake setup consists of twin 298 mm discs at the front and a single 245 mm disc at the rear.
