2020 Audi A4 unveiled; gets diesel hybrid option

Audi has refreshed the A4 model line-up. The car gets revised exteriors and new engine options including mild-hybrid variants. Bookings in Europe have opened up with prices in Germany starting at Euro 35,900.

The 2020 A4 gets a wider Singleframe grille, redesigned LED headlamps, and vertical air vents on either side of the bumper. The tail lights are tweaked and the rear bumper is also revised and gets reflectors and exhaust vents. A new terra grey colour is now offered. The A4 will be available in different body styles - Sedan, Avant (station wagon) and allroad variants. The allroad gets 35 mm of additional ground clearance.

Changes to the insides are minimum. A 10.1-inch touchscreen equipped with the MMI system is offered.

The A4 will be offered with 6 turbocharged engines with power output ranging from 148 BHP to 342 BHP and a choice of manual, 7-speed S tronic or 8-speed tiptronic gearboxes is offered. Power is sent to the front wheels or all four wheels. The top of the line S4 trim is offered with a 3.0-liter V6 turbo diesel combined with a 48V mild hybrid system. It develops 342 BHP and 700 Nm of peak torque. It has an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h and Audi claims a 0-100 km/h time of 4.8 seconds for the sedan. The S4 is also available with a V6 petrol engine outside Europe.
