Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to launch the 2018 Vitara Brezza with minor cosmetic updates. But more importantly, the compact SUV is expected to be offered with an automated manual transmission (AMT) for the first time.

According to a homologation document, Maruti Suzuki is likely to offer AMT on the VDi, ZDi and ZDi+ variants of the Vitara Brezza. It will be powered by the same 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine which makes 89 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and a peak torque of 200 Nm @ 1,750 rpm. In addition to the AMT, the Brezza will continue to be offered with the 5-speed manual gearbox.

A media report suggests that Maruti will no longer offer the Brezza in LDi (O) and VDi (O) trims. That said, safety features like ABS, dual airbags and parking sensors will now be standard across all variants. Chrome grille, chrome rear garnish and all-black interiors will also be part of the standard package. Additionally, the top-spec ZDi trim levels will get black alloy wheels. Spy images suggest that the Brezza will be offered in a new orange exterior colour option.

Moving to the interior, the new Brezza will get a SmartPlay infotainment system with MapCare navigation and Apple CarPlay connectivity. Other features include engine start/stop button, electrically foldable ORVMs, reverse parking camera, cruise control, and automatic headlamps among others.
