Next-Gen 2017 SsangYong Rexton spied in China

The next-gen SsangYong Rexton has been spotted in China, ahead of its official debut at this year's Paris Motor Show, which is scheduled in October 2016. The 2017 Rexton will be the fourth-generation model of the SUV.

The test mules spotted wore heavy camouflage, which disguised most of the design elements of the new Rexton. Some basic characteristics visible include edgier headlamps and horizontal tail lamps. The vehicle will be based on an all-new platform, and will take design inspiration from the SsangYong LIV-1 (Limitless Interface Vehicle) concept, which was unveiled in 2013.

Interiors too have been significantly redesigned, as they now come with a new three-spoke steering wheel, a revised dashboard and centre console, and plusher seats. Equipment levels on offer might include a touchscreen infotainment system, dual-zone automatic climate control, automatic headlamps, and rain-sensing wipers.

Powertrain options will include an improved version of the Mercedes-derived 2.2-litre diesel engine that is currently found under the hood of the Euro-spec Rexton. Additionally, a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine will also be added to the Rexton line-up at a later date.
